Diagnostic criteria of cough variant asthma:

(1) cough duration > 4 weeks, often at night and (or) early onset or aggravation of nonproductive cough;

(2) no clinical signs of infection, or after a long period of antibiotic treatment ineffective;

(3) effective diagnosis of anti asthmatic drugs;

(4) excluding other causes of chronic cough;

(5) positive bronchial provocation test and (or) PEF daily variation rate (continuous monitoring of 1 ~ 2 weeks) = 20%;

(6) a history of atopic disease in individuals or relatives of grade one or two or positive for allergen detection.

1 to 4 items were listed as the basic diagnostic criteria.
