The purpose of HCV infection treatment is to clear the virus. The end point of treatment was sustained virologic response (SVR).

Once SVR, more than 99% of patients were cured. As soon as HCV is removed, the inflammatory necrosis will cease, and fibrosis in the non cirrhotic patients will stop. In patients with cirrhosis, the clearance of HCV can reduce the occurrence of decompensation, but can not reduce the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
