Abstract: Objective To evaluate the changes of pharyngeal airflow and the matching degree with the clinical curative effect before and after the operation of CFD with the method of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A method for patients with obstructive sleep apnea underwent uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) surgery for snoring patients before surgery and one month after the operation of the CT and MRI scanning and polysomnography. Using 3-Doctor, Pointwise and Tecplot 3602008 v11.2 software for simulation analysis. Results before and after the operation, there were significant differences in the patterns and characteristics of airflow in the pharyngeal cavity. In patients with pharyngeal stenosis plane, the airflow velocity change was the most obvious, before surgery was 4.632 m/s, after the operation changed to 2.745 m/s. The amplitude of the variation of the flow velocity in the narrow plane is parallel to that of AHI and PSG of SPO2. The volume changes of pharyngeal cavity before and after operation were parallel to AHI. The average decline of 0.09 cavity resistance (ml/s) after uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. Conclusion the function of image and CFD technology to evaluate UPPP patients to provide an objective means of visualization based on the method, and polysomnography evaluation has a good match.
